Eris Drew and Octo Octa release their debut album as Alchemical Sisters

The self-titled double LP, out on Detroit's Interdimensional Transmissions, trades the pair's all-vinyl back-to-back sets for acid, big beat and dulcimers — and the duo are billed at the label's Samhain XXVI party in Detroit this Halloween.

DJs: Eris Drew and Octo Octa release their debut album as Alchemical Sisters

Eris Drew and Octo Octa have released Alchemical Sisters, their first album together under the name, on Interdimensional Transmissions. The record's Bandcamp page, run by the duo, lists it as catalogue number IT 57 with a release date of 19 October 2026; some earlier announcements gave 18 October.

The pair describe the project as "psychedelic chaos, acid rollers, and big beat, channeled through hardware instruments", according to the release notes. The eight tracks run from opener "This Is How It Should Be Done" through "Double Acid" and "Anytime Sisters Slide" to closer "Why Not Dream". UK shop Norman Records lists the vinyl as a double LP.

From the decks to the forest

The two are best known for long, all-vinyl back-to-back DJ sets. According to Beatportal, they recorded the album at home in the New Hampshire forests, turning their bedroom into a studio. Dance Wax reports that they mixed dulcimers and other "ancestral" instruments with turntables and vintage machines. The recordings were then mixed by BMG over two weeks at the Interdimensional Laboratory in Detroit.

Beatportal adds that the opener comes with a music video directed by Andrew Charles Edman (ACE), featuring dancers Shannon White and Erika Ruch. Clash reports that the album was launched at a Mixlab session in East London the week before release.

A partnership with its own label

The album continues a long collaboration. The pair met in 2017 and in 2019 founded T4T LUV NRG, which is both a party series and a record label, according to Resident Advisor. Octo Octa (Maya Bouldry-Morrison) has spoken publicly about coming out as transgender in 2016, and she and Drew are partners off the decks as well, as recorded in her Wikipedia biography. Before this album, the pair had shared the Devotion EP (2018) and a 2022 single on fabric Originals. Earlier this year Octo Octa released her solo album Sigils for Survival, and Drew released a DJ-Kicks mix last year (RA).

When the album was announced in August, RA listed festival dates at Dimensions, Draaimolen and Making Time. The Alchemical Sisters name had already appeared on a remix for the punk band Special Interest.

Next stop: Samhain in Detroit

Next up is Interdimensional Transmissions' own Halloween party. The official RA listing for Samhain XXVI bills "Eris Drew & Octo Octa (Alchemical Sisters)" in the Ballroom on Saturday 31 October. The listing also names Lakuti x Tama Sumo, Forcefield (Afra x Serge) and Tammy Lakkis, with Hodge x Erika, BMG, Neel, Mike Servito and Mozhgan in the Dark Room. Dance Wax calls the night the duo's live debut as Alchemical Sisters, but the listing itself does not say whether they will play a live set or DJ.

The party runs from 9pm to 9am. The organisers call it a 13-hour night because the clocks go back during it.
