CORI AMENTA: THE CREATIVE THREAD BETWEEN FASHION, SICILY AND THE DANCEFLOOR

Cori Amenta’s latest chapter runs through music, image-making and a return to her Sicilian roots. The designer, stylist and DJ is announced for Falloween in Catania on 31 October 2026, while a recent screen appearance offers another way into a career that resists a single job title.

That appearance is in the video for Giuseppe Cucè’s “Estasi e veleno”, directed by Gianluca Scalia. In a July interview with Diffusioni Musicali, Cucè describes Amenta as a central presence in its visual narrative. Her contribution is an on-screen appearance in the film.

From fashion to the booth

In her July 2026 conversation with Artgasmic Magazine, Amenta recalls being noticed by Stefano Gabbana while dancing at Milan’s Plastic. She discusses working with Dolce & Gabbana, developing her own footwear and ceramics, and playing BOTOX MATINÈ in Milan. These are connected parts of her practice, rather than a neat switch from one career to another.

One line from that interview stays with me: “everyone has the right to be fabulous.” It gives a sense of how she understands the club: a place where the distances between people can become smaller.

The collaborations beyond the club

Amenta’s relationship with Spazionoto is another strand. Speaking to SiracusaPress in an earlier interview, she described working with gallery owner Paolo Perelli on her Verus ceramics, reinterpreting Sicilian Teste di Moro through a personal visual language. Their collaboration, she explained, grew out of friendship as well as work.

What interests me in this story is the continuity between dressing a body, creating an object and choosing music for a room. In each case there is an audience, but also a question about who gets to be seen on their own terms.

Where to hear her next

The Falloween listing places Amenta alongside DJs Paolo Di Venuto and Serena Cocciante at NÜ Dogane, Via Cardinale Dusmet 5, Catania, on 31 October. Elecktra Bionic and La Feb Mua are also announced. The listing gives both 23:00 and 23:30 start times, so confirm the final entry time before travelling.

Next stop: Muccassassina in Rome, 1 November

There is another date I am adding to my Cori Amenta diary: Sunday 1 November 2026, from 19:00, at Qube in Rome. The event poster announces her as guest DJ for Muccassassina’s “El Día de los Muertos” Tea Dance, part of its Halloween Fest.

What draws me to this announcement is the chance to follow her musical work into another of Italy’s queer meeting places. An early-evening tea dance offers a different rhythm to the late-night club itinerary — and another reason to keep listening to an artist whose creativity moves between fashion, visual culture and the booth.

For me, Amenta is worth following through the connections between her projects, without reducing her to an image or a single scene.
