HOMORIENTAL: LISTENING TO MORE OF QUEER COLOGNE

I don’t want my map of queer Europe to be made only of the same sounds and the same kinds of rooms. HomOriental makes me curious about another part of Cologne’s nightlife, and about the people who find recognition in its music.

The official site confirms Saturday 28 November 2026 from 23:00 at Tivoli, Hohe Straße 14, with DJ Kanun-Yildirim and DJ Mesut. The long-running party describes itself as an Oriental party for gay, lesbian, bi and trans people, drag performers and friends.

I’d like to approach it as a listener, without reducing a musical culture or a community to a travel trend. Sharing a queer identity doesn’t mean we all share the same background, references or experience of feeling welcome. That variety is one reason I want to keep exploring.

If this is part of your Cologne weekend, check the current ticket information and give yourself time to enjoy it. I’m interested in nights that widen my idea of belonging, one unfamiliar song or conversation at a time.
